Reese at Peace

For anyone who has followed anything about me or my family, you’ve heard the name, even if you’ve forgotten it. Belonging to the cutest little ball of fluff, “Reese” walked our home’s halls, guarded our little castle, barking and growling at small wildlife through panes of glass. Small beings that had no clue he existed.

We were honored to share his 17 years traipsing this planet. Even though Yorkies are known to live longer than other dogs, 17 is impressive. In early summer, the bridge came calling, he punched his ticket and embarked on his next journey.

We miss him terribly.

We always will.

Recently, my husband and I were talking about the little guy. I confessed I hoped one day I would have one of those lovingly eerie experiences where it feels like he is with me. Later that evening, not using any key words searches, merely mindlessly scrolling YouTube, something odd came on the screen.

The suggested video was “Breakfast: Reese Interruptus.” My husband said my name was under the video.

That made no sense to me. None.

Several years ago I went back to school and began a new career. Part of that prep process included clearing out YouTube and other media, as one does.  As I was changing my focus and had no intent to record another planner review video 0r any video shorts on things like rocks (yes, I like rocks), I thought I had zapped all of it.

Then, the same day I said I wanted to be with Reese again this video popped up as a suggestion.

My video. Which had 16 entire views. A view total hardly worthy of showing up in search. And we hadn’t even searched for it.

My husband clicked play then we enjoyed less than a minute of Reese – and me – sharing the screen.

Our view made it 17 views. And when Reese left this year, it was at the age of 17.

I thought of adding the link, but I am not in this for the clicks. I am in this to share a story with you. And I hope that it may give you hope, that you, too, will have your aching heart (when it does ache) have a salve find its way to you, even if out of the blue.

Blessed Be.
